Launched in 2006 as the sister company to CMT Materials Inc., the ESS team has a combined 80+ years of experience in advanced reinforced polymeric composites.

Noel Tessier - Co-founder and Technical Director

Noel Tessier is a co-founder of CMT Materials Inc. (1998), the industry’s first company dedicated to thermoform tooling materials. He is a materials engineer and has over 30 years of experience in the research and development of composite materials. He holds a Master of Science in plastics engineering from the University of Lowell and a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Northeastern University. He is responsible for the development of new materials for plug assist thermoforming at CMT Materials Inc. Prior to CMT, he was employed with Quadrax Corporation having responsibilities for production, development and quality improvement for all thermoplastic matrix continuous fiber tape products. Noel has extensive experience in composite materials including syntactic foams, fiber reinforced materials and highly filled plastics, having held research and development positions at WR Grace and the Army Materials & Mechanics Research Center.

Thomas Murray - Co-founder and Director of Business Development

Thomas Murray is a co-founder of CMT Materials Inc. (1998) and the Sales Director of Engineered Syntactic Systems (2005). He is a materials engineer with over 30 years of experience in the research and development of composite materials, including more than 20 years of experience in syntactic foams. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and a Master of Science in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Prior to starting the companies, he was employed with the Raytheon Corporation as the manager of the Composites Group in the Materials Engineering Laboratory. Thomas has also held materials engineering positions with WR Grace/Emerson & Cuming and the Army’s Materials Technology Laboratory.

Anthony Colageo - Co-founder and Engineering Director

Anthony Colageo is a materials engineer with over 30 years of experience in syntactic foam processing, development and product design. He is a co-founder of CMT Materials Inc. (1998), the sister company of Engineered Syntactic Systems, and the world leader in the development, manufacturing and sales of syntactic foam plug assists for the thermoforming and subsea buoyancy industries. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and an MBA from Northeastern University. Anthony is responsible for process development and financial management. His prior experience includes Engineering Manager, Program Manager and Research Specialist at Emerson & Cuming.

Terrence Woldorf - Managing Director

Managing Director Terrence Woldorf is a graduate of The Ohio State University. Woldorf has over 30 years career history in the adhesive, injection molding and thermoform tooling markets. He is a Six Sigma green belt holder and co-inventor on multiple US and European patented industrial plastic products. Terrence’s extensive career includes management and/or director positions at EG&G, Nordson Corp and Dymax Corp. Prior to joining ESS, Mr. Woldorf spent significant time in many areas of the world with a primary focus on improving manufacturing productivity and product reliability/performance.

Michael Jolly - Syntactic Product Line Manager

Michael Jolly is the Product Line Manager for Engineered Syntactic Systems (2005). As seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the syntactic foam industry, Michael is knowledgeable in all areas of manufacturing. As the Operations Manager for military, marine and oceanographic applications, he has been responsible for nearly all of the on-site naval shipyard syntactic installations performed for the US Navy and its subcontractors. Michael began his extensive career in syntactic manufacturing at Emerson & Cuming/WR Grace. He also held production positions at CRP Inc and Trelleborg before joining ESS in 2006.
