ESS Technical Sales Manager

We have an opportunity for a sharp, self-reliant Technical Sales Manager to manage and build a book of business with a blue-chip customer base. If you enjoy complex selling, exhibit a hunter mentality, and are familiar with the Challenger Sales methodology, read on.

What we expect from you

The Technical Sales Manager will be a self-starter who understands product requirements from a customer’s perspective. You are comfortable with long sales cycles and multiple stakeholder selling strategies. You are not afraid to make cold calls in the morning and to give a presentation to the C-suite in the afternoon. You understand how to maximize time at tradeshows and industry events, developing new contacts and gathering industry intelligence. As a sales professional, you are familiar with and adhere to Salesforce CRM best practices to manage your pipeline and close business.

We expect you to participate in company planning sessions and represent the voice of the customer. You have the ability to discern high-value opportunities and organize your efforts accordingly while marshalling the resources of the company effectively. You have a track record of excellent verbal and written communications skills, including a high degree of comfort when speaking to large audiences.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or higher in business or engineering field
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience preferred in an engineering discipline, oceanography, oil and gas, engineered materials sectors
  • ITAR clearance required; must be a US citizen due to business opportunities with government entities
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%, primarily in the US and Canada with some international travel as opportunities arise
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM
