Painting Capabilities
Here at ESS, painting finishes are broken into three categories listed below:
Class I (Marine Grade/Best)
Class II (Better)
Class III (Good)
Class I Features:
Surface Texture
- Smooth, glass-like
- No irregularities visible
- No evidence of sanding or processing
- Surface thickness appears consistent and uniform
- Surface is free from irregularities
Paint
- Consistent sheen across entire part (high gloss or matte finish)
- No irregularities visible
- No inclusions (dust, grit, etc.)
- Solid color
- No bleed-through allowed
- Color consistent part to part
- Color matches sample (if available) without discussion
Class II Features:
Surface Texture
- Smooth or Semi-smooth
- Small irregularities allowed in random groupings or widely-spaced throughout
- Slight evidence of sanding or processing allowed
- Surface thickness appears consistent overall, some heavy areas allowed
- Surface may have localized irregularities or appear rough overall
Paint
- Mostly consistent sheen across entire part (high gloss or matte finish)
- Few irregularities visible
- Few inclusions (dust, grit, etc.)
- Solid color
- Minor bleed-through allowed
- Color consistent part to part
- Color matches sample (if available) without discussion
Class III Features:
Surface Texture
- Semi-rough to Rough (evidence of sanding or other processing allowable)
- Irregularities visible
- Surface thickness may not appear consistent or uniform
- Surface is irregular (deep folds/orange peel/wrinkles allowed)
Paint
- Consistent sheen not required
- Irregularities allowable
- Inclusions allowed (dust, grit, etc.)
- Solid to semi-transparent color
- Bleed-through allowed
- Color not required to be consistent part to part
- Color matches expectation (Orange/Yellow/Red, etc.)
